  1. I found myself listening to the song Dreams by Fleetwood Mac the most over Spring Break. From on the airplane to on the beach, this song was being played every time I would play music. The time I enjoyed listening to the song the most this break was on the airplane on my way to Florida. I think it's because of all the built up excitement to finally see my family and friends for the week. I find the pace of the song super relaxing and catchy. Although Stevie Nicks isn't singing very happy and relaxing lyrics I still find it easy to unwind while listening to the song due to the melody of the instruments and her soothing voice.

  2. I found myself listening to The Middle by Zedd, Maren Morris and Grey. I listening to this song throughout the week of spring break to boost my mood on my way to and from practice. This song is about a girl wanting a boy to compromise. The audience is most teen girls and most everyone who listens to pop music. The purpose is to entertain and convince whoever the song writer is writing to, to compromise. The song is pretty upbeat and happy despite the girl wanting her boyfriend to change.

  3. My favorite song from Spring Break was "The Difficult Kind" by Sheryl Crow and Sarah McLachlan. My sister and I both love this song, so naturally it was featured on our Spring Break playlist. We played it on car rides, on the beach, and we even took over the DJ stand and played it for some unwitting listeners. Sheryl Crow is arguing that she has changed and that she is no longer "the difficult kind," she claims that she realized that she was wrong and understands that she made many mistakes. She also argues that love has changed her and that her love interest should return to her and should give her another chance. This song was a live recording of a concert, so the audience was the concert goers. But now the song has been adapted for any audience, anywhere. The purpose of the song is to have listeners relate to the aftermath and heartbreak and regret of a breakup. The tone at first is apologetic, but then by the end Sheryl Crow admits that she has not changed and is still "the difficult kind," so the tone becomes more passionate and fiery. This song has a typical song design and structure, including the refrains and the chorus, although the chorus is slightly changed in the end of the song when Sheryl Crow admits she has not changed.

  4. My favorite song this spring break was "I Feel Good" by Thomas Rhett. It was a song that came on a lot while me and my friends were on the beach and it just really described my attitude during spring break and my time off from school. The song describes how the author currently feels good despite the fact that his truck AC is broken. He says that no one can bring him down and his problems can wait until tomorrow because he feels good today. I think that the purpose of this song is to simply make the audience feel good despite what is going on in the rest of their life. The tone is very upbeat and happy. Because the design of the song is slightly country and pop mixed together, it adds to the upbeat and happy tone. I feel like the targeted audience for this song are the people who are on vacation of on a break from work or school.

  5. My favorite song during spring break was "Let's get it on" by Marvin Gaye (the original song, not that pop song from a few years back). This song is highly underrated in my opinion. Many people just play the first 30 seconds of the song for the sexual comedic effect. However, if you listen to the whole thing, you'll see it has so much soul (especially the last 2 minutes). He gets at it. I was actually talking about it with my friend who is on a mission trip right now. He made the same points as me. When I listen to this song, I get in a soulful mood (that's the same from any Motown). I know its a "love making" song but I don't think of it that way. Marvin Gaye definitely had those intentions though! When he made this song, he had one purpose in mind: sex. Overall, the song is really groovy and soulful in tone and has a generic Motown chord progression. In conclusion, give it a listen because it is pretty underrated.

  6. The song that best described my spring break would be St. Brick Intro by Gucci Mane. The song itself is ironic for spring break considering it has a Christmas feel to it. Nonetheless it was still the song that was the theme of my spring break. It was a great song to listen to with all of my friends at the beach and it describes my spring break for sure. The song is directed to all audiences and it has an uplifting tone and feel to it that makes you want to get up and do something for sure. The song lyrics mostly have to do with Christmas like stated before rapping about Santa and other types of winter topics like snow.

  7. The song that describes my spring break was Sky Walker by Miguel and Travis Scott. I spent a few nights with my friend in New York City and we saw Miguel so we were listening to some of his music before we went. The song reminds me of being in New York and seeing all of the lights and people at night. He sings about ignoring "haters" and having a good time. The lyrics mention just not worrying and celebrating and making the most of time, which is what me and my friend did. The lyrics include sayings like "enjoy the moment" and "celebrate everyday like a birthday" which is just reminding people to not worry about anything other than what is happening at that moment. It is like spring break because I was enjoying my time off and not worrying about school that much.

  8. The song that describes my spring break was swag surfin'. This is a rap song, a genre of music I generally do not listen to, but on spring break it was played multiple times by my friends as we did community service in Memphis Tennessee. This was ironic when considering the lyrics of the song, but it has led to a sentimental listening experience for me every time I hear the song. This is how I generally listen to music; I listen to remind myself of a certain experience.

  9. The song that describes my spring break was "The Other Side" from The Greatest Showman soundtrack. I listened to it on repeat while I was driving and learned all the words and jammed out for a while. This song is about the ringleader of a circus trying to recruit this one guy to leave his life and come with him to live this amazing life. I haven't seen the movie yet, so I'm not 100% clear on the background. It's a very upbeat song, with the intro being a fast beat, and the chorus being slow, but yet with a happy tone. While the ringleader is trying to be convincing throughout the whole song, he talks about how magical his life is, which adds to the happy tone of the song.

  10. over spring break I listened to woman by Kesha a lot. this song makes for a good listening experience because it is very happy and upbeat and promotes girl power. the main message of the song is that she is an independent woman and does not need a man to rely on. This song is definitely geared more towards the women audience that listen to pop music. the tone is very upbeat and optimistic because she is proud of who she is, a woman. The purpose is to tell girls know that they are independent and strong.

  11. My spring break song had to have been Knee Deep by Zac Brown Band and Jimmy Buffet. This song is about Zac Brown wishing he was somewhere on a beach and was only worried about the tide reaching his chair. This was the mood I was in over break. I was not worried about anything at all. The audience of this piece was Zac Brown, Jimmy Buffet, and other country music fans and anyone who just likes to relax. The purpose of this song was to make us wish we too were on a beach, relaxing. The tone was upbeat and beachy, in my opinion.

  12. Over spring break I listened to Meant to be by Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line. The song is very upbeat and free flowing. It gives the vibes of just letting things happen which is pretty much what I did all spring break. The song is about just letting things be because whatever is meant to happen will happen. I went home for spring break and saw a lot of people who I had not seen in a while which can be an interesting experience. The whole time I was just embracing the experience and letting whatever happens happen. The audience for this song is young adults who are trying to figure out life. The message here is that life will happen so some times you just have to sit back and let it be.
